Seller: antique-a-day-plus (1,263) 100%, Location: Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Ships to: US, Europe, CA, AU, Item: 332753742577 ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE Early Hog Scraper Candlestick Circa: 1700's During research on the internet, I found the following information: Because the design on the bottom of this candlestick having the two tabs that come through slots on the bottom of the base, are cleated, or pounded over to hold the stick together, makes the candlestick rarer than the others that have nut and bolt or circles on the bottom. The 18th century (early 1700's) makes this the rarest on the market, desirable, and/or difficult to find. There is a thumb tab ejector to push up and down the candle inside the tube. Having a narrow lip for candle drippings (also known as a "bobeche" for the candle drippings) making this an early candlestick and adds to the value and rarity of the candlestick.
